Favorite Nicolas Cage Flicks

Changing his name from Copolla to prove he could make it on his own merits, Nicolas Cage has certainly done so. He has created an excellent body of work with many films left in him.

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) DVD
Leaving Las Vegas (1995) VHS
My favorite Cage movie, my favorite Vegas movie, one of my all-time favorites, period. A very dark drama, not for those only interested in feel-good film. Cage gives an amazing performance as an alcoholic who finally reaches the end of his line after losing his wife, his job, and everything else. He goes to Vegas with his severance pay intending to drink himself to death. He is befriended by good-hearted whore Elizabeth Shue, who gives the performance of her career. A realistic portrayal of alcoholism (I was in love with one once,) star-crossed love, life in general and Vegas in particular.

Lord of War (2-disc special DVD)
Cage plays an arms dealer trying to resolve the inner conflict of knowing that what he does is wrong.

Face/Off , Cage and Travolta (DVD)
Face/Off, Cage and Travolta (VHS)
A new take on the old story of good vs. evil. Travolta plays an FBI agent, Cage is the worst type of psycho criminal; they end up with the other's face. Great action with psychological overtones; supporting cast all do a fantastic job.

Adaptation (Superbit Collection) (2003) DVD
Adaptation (Superbit Collection) (2003) VHS
While Cage gives a great performance playing two brothers, I thought the film was horrible. (The brothers are the film's screenwriters. Really. How desperate of a device is that?)

LifeLock Identity Theft Protection

Family Man (2000) DVD
Family Man (2000) VHS
This would not be a bad addition to your Xmass movie collection, a good variation of the classic Dickens theme of a man who has dedicated his life to business discovering what is really important.

Guarding Tess (1994) DVD
Guarding Tess (1994) VHS
Cage plays a secret service agent charged with guarding a very eccentric and aged former First Lady.

Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) DVD
Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) VHS
Co-starring Sarah Jessica Parker and James Caan, a film more than worth the price of admission. Featuring flying Elvi's, comedy, romance, and Ms. Parker in a skimpy little bikini. One of my favorite Vegas movies.

Windtalkers (2002) DVD
Windtalkers (2002) VHS
Mixed reviews on this one. Cage is assigned to protect a Navajo code talker with orders to kill him if his capture by the Japanese is imminent.

It Could Happen to You (1994) DVD
It Could Happen to You (1994) VHS
Hey guys, every woman I know loves this film. Cage promises half his potential lottery winnings to a waitress because he has no money for a tip; he wins, and keeps his word by giving her half over the protests of his bitchy wife, played by Rosie Perez. Bridget Fonda co-stars.

Moonstruck (1987) DVD
Moonstruck (1987) VHS
Cher is great in this romantic comedy.

The Rock (1996) DVD
The Rock (1996) VHS
Cage plays a nerdy bio-chemist trying to thwart American-grown terrorists who have taken over Alcatraz. Sean Connerly is impeccable as always.

City of Angels (1998) DVD
City of Angels (1998) VHS
Would you give up eternal life for love? Cage trades in his angel wings for Meg Ryan in this tragedy worthy of Shakespeare.

Con Air (1997) DVD
Con Air (1997) VHS
A good action film. Very interesting cast of characters.

Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) DVD
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) VHS
Another film with good action sequences. Hot cars and hot babes, including the too-sexy Angelina Jolie.

Raising Arizona (1987) DVD
Raising Arizona (1987) VHS
Funny movie - Cage can play it dark or comedic, whatever the role requires.

Wild at Heart (1990) VHS
Starring an incredibly sexy Laura Dern with Cage. Another dark film, with many allusions to, of all things, The Wizard of Oz. A David Lynch film.
