Rebel Without a Cause (DVD)
Rebel Without a Cause (VHS)
(1955) Dean died in the famous car crash just before this movie opened. He gives a heartbreaking performance as a troubled teen at a time when Hollywood paid no attention to life from that point of view. Natalie Wood co-stars and also gives a killer performance. This movie is just as relevant today. Watch it with your teens, it may open up some communication lines as well as show them that there really were movies before the Matrix.
East of Eden (VHS)
(1955) Dean's first role in the adaptation of John Steinbech's book. Generally thought to be a classic, no argument from me.
Giant (DVD - two-disc special edition)
Giant (VHS)
(1956) Dean's last performance features an amazing cast, from Rock Hudson and Liz Taylot to a young Dennis Hopper.
Harvest (VHS)
(1953) Fortunately we can see a little more of Dean in the TV shows he did. This one was a Thanksgiving special.
James Dean (DVD)
(2001) Excellent biography focusing on the life and times of James Dean.
