John Travolta

From Saturday Night Fever to the later dramas, Travolta has grown as an actor while always entertaining the movie-going public.

Travolta, Willis, and friends are hilarious in this comedic farce as a group of middle-agers looking for a last ride.

Travolta can't seem to paas up a musical, even if he has to dress up in drag as a 300-pound housewife. Not my cup of tea.

Saturday Night Fever(DVD)
Saturday Night Fever(VHS)
(1977) A slightly-more-intelligent Vinnie Barbarino dancing to disco. Maybe it's because I hate disco, but I never understood the huge success of this film.

Pulp Fiction(DVD)
Pulp Fiction(VHS)
(1994) This film surprised everyone with its success, and re-established Travolta as a star after a series of flops.

Face/Off, Cage and Travolta (DVD)
Face/Off, Cage and Travolta (VHS)
A new take on the old story of good vs. evil. Travolta plays an FBI agent, Cage is the worst type of psycho criminal; they end up with the other's face. Great action with psychological overtones; supporting cast all do a fantastic job.

The General's Daughter(DVD)
The General's Daughter(VHS)
(1999)One of my favorite Travolta films, if you've been in the military culture you could see this happening. It reminds me of the Air Force Academy scandals that came to light after this film was made. Travolta puts on weight and affects a Southern accent (a tad overdone) for this role.

Primary Colors(DVD)
Primary Colors(VHS)
(1998)A very good film that did poorly at the box office, probably because of its similarity to the unfolding Clinton scandal.

A Civil Action(DVD)
A Civil Action(VHS)
(1999) Travolta gives us a good performance as an attorney involved in a personal injury suit. Robert Duval steals the show as the opposition. Highly recommended.

Swordfish(DVD)
Swordfish(VHS)
(2001) Certainly not his greatest film, still many in post-911 America will identify somewhat with the Swordfish's anti-terrorist stance despite his lust for violence. Halle Berry wastes her considerable talents, basically picking up a check for bearing her boobies. Oh well, I'm sure she made more than she would have at the local strip joint.

X10 Home Security System

The Travolta Collection (Saturday Night Fever / Grease / Urban Cowboy) (DVD)
The Travolta Collection (Saturday Night Fever / Grease / Urban Cowboy) (VHS)
Three entertaining movies for a good price. If your woman is a Travolta fan, she'll love this as a gift.

Phenomenon(DVD)
Phenomenon(VHS)
(1996) Travolta plays a dolt who suddenly has super-intelligence. Sad ending but a great character study.

Michael(DVD)
Michael(VHS)
(1996) Not a great film, but an interesting tale about a different kind of angel.

Staying Alive(DVD)
Staying Alive(VHS)
(1973) Follow-up to Saturday Night Fever, more disco crap.

Grease(DVD)
Grease(VHS)
(1978) Co-starring with Olivia Newton John, brings the Broadway musical to the screen.

Urban Cowboy(DVD)
Urban Cowboy(VHS)
(1980)Started a brief country craze B.G. (Before Garth.) Two-steppin' with Debra Winger.

Perfect(DVD)
Perfect(VHS)
(1985)Jamie Lee Curtis co-stars in this enjoyable farce about eighties airheads.
